The Republican command and staff exercises "Koktem-2024" are taking place in the capital

In the period from February 8-9 of this year, in preparation for the flood period, the Department of Emergency Situations of Astana city is conducting the Republican command and staff exercises "Koktem-2024" to practice emergency rescue and emergency operations during the flood period.
As part of the exercises, all 20 flood-prone areas were covered, where mini-headquarters were deployed in five districts of the city to coordinate the implementation of tasks. Within the framework of the RCSHU "Koktem-2024 Astana Emergency Situations Department, together with local executive bodies, the practical part of the exercises most susceptible to floods was applied and worked out, these are the Industrial railway station; Urker railway station Sector 1, Urker railway station Sector 2; Ondiris railway station; Prigorodny railway station and Railway station Chubary; Agrogorodok railway station, 185 Dulatov Street.
In preparation for the flood period of 2024, in order to minimize the threats of the flood situation and promptly respond to possible complications of the flood situation in the capital, a general grouping of civil protection services of over 500 personnel, more than 150 pieces of equipment, 3 watercraft, 65 motor pumps, 3 UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicle), 127 units of communication equipment, from 237 people, 124 units of various equipment, 31 units of motor pumps will be involved from the municipal services of the city under the leadership of the akimat of the city.
With the complication of the flood situation in Astana, the forces and means of the Department of Emergency Situations of Astana city in the amount of 10 pieces of equipment, 154 personnel equipped with trench tools, trailed and portable mud pumps and swimming facilities have been put on alert.

8 memoranda, updated memoranda with 5 hotels ("Zhiger", "Alkuat", "KingHotelAstana", "Gempire", "Tengri") according to the placement of the population in emergency situations, 16 reception points for the affected population with a total of 2,300 people have been put on alert.
Such exercises are conducted in order to determine the degree of readiness of forces and means of territorial and sectoral civil protection systems to perform tasks in case of threat and occurrence of emergency situations during the flood period, improve coordination of actions aimed at preventing and eliminating emergencies of civil protection services, check the readiness of warning and communication systems, the work of forecast and dispatch services, monitoring, creation of stocks of logistical, food and medical reserves, as well as verification of emergency response plans, evacuation measures and interaction, taking into account the prediction of the development of the flood situation.
