The capital's firefighters conducted fire-tactical exercises in the residential complex "Seven barrels"

By the Emergency Department of Fire-tactical exercises were held in Astana to work out the tactics of extinguishing fires in high-rise buildings along with the rescue and evacuation of people on the territory of the residential complex "Seven Barrels" on Syganak Street.

According to the plan of the exercise, an electrical switchboard in the basement caught fire and the spread of fire on the insulation of electrical cables in the cable shaft from the 1st to the 10th floors of the residential complex, thereby a strong thick smoke formed in the entrance of the residential complex. A resident on the 5th floor, seeing the fire, reported by phone to the line "101". After receiving the message, fire and rescue units were immediately sent to the place of the call by an elevated call number. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters began the conditional evacuation of residents and the elimination of the source of the fire. A fire extinguishing headquarters and 6 combat areas for fire elimination are being created. Firefighters checked all floors for the presence of victims and assessed the extent of the fire. At the same time, to rescue people from the upper floors, rescuers of the Operational Rescue Squad go up to the 16th floor and rescue people. Also, by the forces of the GDZS units, 15 more people were rescued by means of an auto ladder, 3 of them children.

Evacuated and rescued residents are at the reception and heating point, the disaster medicine center provides assistance to the victims. In less than an hour of coordinated and operational work of fire and rescue units, the fire was eliminated.

In total, 41 people and 10 pieces of equipment of the capital's emergency department are involved in today's exercises.

We also recommend residents of the capital to take measures in case of a fire in an apartment:

1.Report the fire to the fire department by calling "101", "112"

If there is no danger of electric shock, proceed to extinguishing the fire with water, or use a thick (wet cloth).
If there is a danger of electric shock, turn off the electricity.
Flammable liquids cannot be extinguished with water (extinguish with sand, earth, fire extinguisher, if there are none, cover with a dense cloth soaked in water).
In case of fire, do not open the vents and windows in any case.
If you are unable to eliminate the fire on your own, leave the apartment, closing the door behind you, and immediately report the fire to neighbors and residents above or below the apartments.
Meet the firefighters and guide them to the place of the fire.
At high temperatures, heavy smoke, it is necessary to crawl, since the temperature at the floor is much lower and there is more oxygen.
If it is impossible to evacuate from the apartment through the landing, when the escape routes are cut off, it is necessary to go out on the balcony, closing the door behind him, and call for help from passers-by.
