Today, employees of the Department of Emergency Situations of Nur-Sultan within the framework of the campaign "Safety on motor transport" conducted propaganda and preventive work at the posts of technical inspection of vehicles, service stations and objects of trade in auto parts. Once again, a raid and briefings were held with employees of the vehicle inspection station, locksmiths of the station for the repair of technical equipment, as well as with entrepreneurs selling auto parts, and, of course, with motorists. Motorists were reminded about fire safety measures on vehicles and what to do in case of a fire on vehicles.
For the first nine months of this year, 89 cases of vehicle fires were registered in Nur-Sultan, including 73 passenger cars, 13 trucks and 3 public transport, the damage from which amounted to more than 6 million tenge.
The main culprit of the fires is the careless attitude of car owners to their vehicle, without paying special attention to the technical operation and timely diagnosis of cars. Therefore, I would like to remind car owners and drivers of transport companies to carefully monitor the serviceability of all electrical equipment: look under the hood, check the tightness, as well as the serviceability of the fuel equipment of the engine. If gas is used as fuel, the gas equipment must be regularly inspected. Always keep a working fire extinguisher in the car interior.
The Emergency Department of Nur-Sultan reminds car owners what to do in the event of a fire on the car:
If you smell gasoline, burning insulation, see smoke from under the hood, immediately stop the car, turn off the engine, remove the passengers, if there are any, in order to avoid air flow into the engine compartment, do not open it completely, the engine compartment is extinguished from under the engine compartment, as well as the slightly open engine compartment, immediately call the number "101". Before the arrival of firefighters, try to cope with the fire with improvised means – a fire extinguisher or a thick cloth. Extinguish spilled fuel under the car-use a fire extinguisher, feeding foam or powder in the direction from the edge to the center of the hearth. You can not extinguish the engine with water! Water can cause electrical wiring to short-circuit or spread burning gasoline.
These recommendations, as well as passing a timely and high-quality technical inspection, are enough to protect yourself and passengers from a fire in the car.
