Today, on March 1, the World Civil Defense Day is celebrated annually, which this year is held under the motto: "Civil defense and work with displaced persons in disasters and crises, the role of volunteers and the fight against pandemics."
For reference: Civil defense is an integral part of the state civil protection system designed to implement measures carried out in peacetime and wartime to protect the population and territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan from modern means of destruction and emergency situations of a natural and man–made nature.
Civil defense deals not only with the protection of the population during the war, but also with the rescue of citizens in natural and man-made disasters and other extreme situations, as a result of which ordinary people may suffer. The organization also has its own professional holiday - World Civil Defense Day.
And also, it is engaged not only in preventing and eliminating the consequences of these incidents, but also in conducting explanatory work among the population on how to behave in such a situation. The Action Plan for the preparation and holding of the World Civil Defense Day has been approved, within the framework of which a Month of Civil Defense has been announced throughout the country and a set of measures aimed at promoting knowledge about civil defense and drawing public attention to important tasks performed by civil protection services has been planned. Great attention will be paid to the younger generation. Open and interactive lessons, object and evacuation trainings on the signal "Attention to everyone!" will take place in educational institutions, open days are organized and held on the basis of operational rescue teams, fire departments.
Nowadays, when various natural and man-made accidents and threats of emergency situations occur daily, holding such events is very important. It makes it possible to teach the population the rules of behavior in a particular critical situation, to test the knowledge and skills of specialists in the field of life safety, to check plans for the use of forces and means and their effectiveness in practice, to identify problematic issues, to discuss the prospects for the development of this area together with local executive bodies. All events to celebrate the World Civil Defense Day are aimed at raising public awareness of actions in the event of an emergency.
Also, an inspection of the Nur-Sultan warning system will be carried out today with the launch of electric sirens, siren-speech devices and interception of broadcasting.
We remind you that in order to attract the attention of the population in case of a threat of emergency situations, electric sirens or other signaling means are turned on, which means giving a single alert signal "Attention to everyone!". Upon hearing this signal, the population is obliged to immediately turn on the available means of receiving information (TV channels, radio, etc.) to receive information and instructions on actions in the current situation.
