Before the start of the heating season, stoves and chimneys must be cleaned, repaired and whitewashed, cracks must be sealed. The repair and laying of stoves can only be trusted by professionals.
The furnace, the chimney at the junctions with wooden attic or inter-floor ceilings should have a thickening of the brickwork-cutting. Do not forget about the thickening of the walls of the furnace.
Any furnace should have an independent foundation and not be adjacent to the entire plane of one of the walls to wooden structures. It is necessary to leave an air gap between them - an indentation.
On the wooden floor before the furnace, it is necessary to nail a metal (pre-heating) sheet with dimensions of at least 50 by 70 cm. In order to prevent the furnace from burning, it is recommended to heat it two or three times a day and no more than an hour and a half.
To avoid the formation of cracks in the masonry, it is necessary to periodically clean the chimney from soot accumulating in it.
In places where combustible and difficult-to-burn structures of buildings (walls, partitions, ceilings, beams) are adjacent to stoves and chimneys, it is necessary to provide cutting from fireproof materials.
When the chimney passes through the combustible ceiling, the brick cutting from the place of smoke passage to the wooden structures adjacent to the chimney should be 38 centimeters, that is, 1.5 bricks with a layer of asbestos 2 centimeters and in the roof, the combustible crate around the chimney is cut by 13 centimeters, and the hole is protected by a metal sheet. Before firing a solid fuel furnace, a metal pre-heating sheet of 50x70 centimeters in size should be nailed on a wooden or other floor made of combustible materials. It is necessary to clean chimneys and stoves from soot before the start, as well as during the entire heating season at least once every three months.
When operating the furnace heating, it is prohibited:
- leave burning stoves unattended, as well as entrust supervision of them to young children;
- place fuel, other combustible substances and materials on the pre-heating sheet;
- use gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel and other flammable and combustible liquids for ignition of furnaces;
- to heat furnaces not intended for these types of fuel with coal, coke and gas;
- re-pump the furnaces;
- use ventilation and gas ducts as chimneys.
Only if you comply with the above fire safety requirements, you will protect yourself, your loved ones and your home from fires!
