Rules of conduct and safety measures on the water

In connection with the established hot weather, the Emergency Situations of Almaty region recalls the rules of safe behavior on water bodies:

- it is better to swim in the morning or in the evening, when the sun is warm, but there is no danger of overheating. The water temperature should be at least 17-19 C, it is dangerous to be in colder temperatures. The time spent in the water should increase gradually, from 3-5 minutes;

- do not enter the water while intoxicated. Alcohol blocks the vascular center in the brain, and also dulls the instinct of self-preservation, in combination with a temperature drop when immersed in water, it can provoke a heart attack;

- do not swim far, as you can not calculate your strength;

- When you feel tired, you shouldn't get lost and strive to swim to the shore as quickly as possible. You need to "rest" on the water. To do this, be sure to learn to swim on your back. Turning over on your back and supporting yourself on the surface with light movements of your arms and legs, you can rest;

- not to get lost, even if you are caught in a whirlpool. It is necessary to draw more air into the lungs, plunge into the water and, making a strong jerk to the side, float up;

- do not swim on air mattresses, car cameras. Wind or current can carry them very far from the coast, and a wave can overwhelm them, air can escape from them, and they lose their buoyancy.

- Swimming with a mask, snorkel and fins requires special care: you cannot swim with a snorkel in strong waves. You need to swim only along the coast and always under constant supervision so that you can come to the rescue in time;

- to prevent rude pranks in the water: swim under the swimmers, grab their legs, "drown", give false signals for help, etc .;

- do not leave babies unattended by the water. They can stumble and fall, drown in water or fall into a hole. This also applies to the usual situation in everyday life: unfortunately, it is not uncommon for small children to drown in the bathtub, left by their parents “for just one minute”;

- do not swim behind the restrictive signs, because they limit the water area with a checked bottom, a certain depth, there are guaranteed the absence of eddies, etc. No need to sail far from the shore or cross the body of water

Remember: when near the water, never forget about your own safety and the safety of your children. Be prepared to help those in need. Take care of yourself!
