This year, the volume of fish grown in the Almaty region is planned to increase to 8 thousand tons

If last year about 6 thousand tons of commercial fish were grown in the Almaty region, this year it is planned to increase its volume to 8 thousand tons. Also, the Aral sturgeon will be grown manually. This was reported during a press tour organized by the Fisheries Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

There are 22 fish farms in Almaty region. One of which is "Marlene Tursynali". Last year, this entrepreneur raised 50 tons of commercial trout, this year it is planned to increase the volume to 160 tons. At the moment, fish ponds are being built in the Enbekshikazakh district, in the city of Esik. It is planned to complete the construction work in the next two months.

"We grow 220 tons of trout, 50 tons of sturgeon fish, 100 tons of African (clarivi) per year Catfish. About 50 people work in our farms. As you can see, we have received land with an investment project. In the next two months, the construction work will be fully completed. In reservoirs with a capacity of 120 tons, we additionally grow trout. Then we will sell to the domestic market," says entrepreneur Marlene Tursynali.

In addition, the Aral sturgeon will be grown in the pond farm "Shelek" from April this year in the region. Recall that this water pearl was taken under special protection in 1996 and listed in the "Red Book" of Kazakhstan. However, in the Aral-Syrdarya water basin, this species of fish has become extinct. However, the acclimatized Balkhash-Ili water basin makes it possible to catch this fish. Thus, on the farm, caviar and juveniles are adapted to its further cultivation, then sent back to the natural environment. Now, in order to get permission for it, the industry committee plans to issue a resolution by the end of this month.

"We have passed various examinations and sent a biological justification to the fisheries committee to obtain a fishing permit. After the ruling, in April we will fish from the natural environment and grow in artificial conditions. From the caviar of adult females, we will remove fry and send them back to the natural environment. This, in turn, will help to preserve the endangered species of valuable fish." - says the deputy director of the farm Meirambek Pazylbekov.

The Almaty region has a greater potential for growing fish. Therefore, there are a lot of people who want to breed in artificial conditions. They receive a lot of support from the state.

"Almaty region is rich in water and artificial reservoirs, there are natural lakes. This year we plan to consolidate these natural lakes for fish farming, and by the end of the year to grow up to 8 thousand tons of fish. Last year, 32.1 million tenge was allocated from the budget of the Almaty region to subsidize commercial fish farming, of which 16.2 million tenge was disbursed. The remaining 15.8 million tenge were returned to the budget due to non-receipt of applications. This year, 38.0 million tenge is planned to be allocated from the regional budget for subsidizing commercial fish farming." - said Rinat Kumashev, deputy head of the Balkhash-Alakol inter-regional basin inspection of fisheries.

It should be noted that last year the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved the Program for the development of fisheries for 2021-2030. According to this program, it is planned to increase the volume of cultivation of aquatic biological resources in artificial cultivation conditions for these years to 270 thousand tons.
