S.Brekeshev held a meeting on the international project "Eurasia"

On March 5, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Brekeshev S.A. was held a meeting with representatives of the world's leading oil and gas companies.

The meeting discussed the implementation of Phase 1 of the project "Study of the deep geological structure of the subsalt deposits of the Kazakh part of the Caspian Basin using advanced and innovative technologies of reprocessing and reinterpretation of available geological and geophysical data in order to implement the Phase-1 program of the international project "Eurasia" (hereinafter - the project) and the possible participation of leading oil and gas companies in subsequent phases of the project.

During the meeting, the Minister noted the importance of implementing the project to ensure economic stability in the conditions of competition for investment.

Within the framework of the project, work is being carried out this year to analyze and re-process all available geological and geophysical data on the Caspian Basin using new approaches and interpretation technologies, and a report is also being compiled in which the most promising zones within the Caspian Basin will be identified for further work.

At stages 2 and 3, it is planned to work out regional seismic profiles, non-seismic aerogeophysical studies, processing and interpretation of the data obtained using advanced innovative technologies for the purpose of reliable geological study of promising areas and search for deep-lying intra-basin promising objects, and drilling of an ultra-deep search well at the identified promising object will also be carried out.

President of the Kazakhstan Society of Petroleum Geologists Kuandykov B.M. presented the primary results of the work performed on the first phase of the project, the results of processing historical data with modern technologies were demonstrated.

In turn, he noted that the project will make it possible in the near future to open new deposits of light oil and gas in the deep horizons of the Caspian depression and multiply the strategic reserve of hydrocarbon raw materials as the foundation of the country's energy security and maintaining a high level of hydrocarbon production.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to the conditions of possible participation of oil and gas companies in the implementation of phases 2 and 3 of this project.
