According to the remote sensing images of NASA satellites processed by Kazhydromet RSE, as of March 1, 2022, the area of the territory of Kazakhstan covered with snow is 65%.
Currently, the process of snow accumulation continues.
According to the results of route surveys conducted in October-November 2021, there was a shortage of moisture reserves in the predominant territory of grain-growing regions before going into winter.
Thus, the expected volumes of moisture reserves in the north and center of the republic, compiled according to hydro meteorological observations and measurements as of March 1, 2022, indicate the need to be ready for flooding in these regions. In the south and south-west of the republic, according to data on snow reserves and the amount of precipitation, low water is predicted.
These, as well as data on the expected volume of spring flood runoff, are publicly available on our website. You can get acquainted with the information by clicking on https://kazhydromet.kz/ru/gidrologiya/gidrologicheskiy-prognoz/2022
