Kazakhstan and Tajikistan water diplomacy gives its results

During his working visit, Vice Minister of Ecology Serik Kozhaniyazov held a meeting in Dushanbe with Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Shoimzoda Jamshed Shodiev.

The parties discussed the current water management situation in the Syrdarya River basin, held negotiations on the coordination of the operation mode of the Bahri Tojik reservoir in the inter-vegetation period of 2021-2022, and the growing season of 2022.

The Kazakh side reached an agreement that during the growing season of 2022, as last year, additional releases of water from the Bahri Tojik reservoir will be carried out, which will improve the provision of irrigation water to farmers in Turkestan and Kyzylorda regions in conditions of low water.
