The deadline for issuing "paper" passports for self-propelled vehicles and other types of equipment has been extended in the EAEU

Since June 27, 2016, an Agreement on the introduction of uniform forms of vehicle passports and passports of self-propelled vehicles and other types of equipment and the organization of electronic passport systems has been in force within the EAEU.

This Agreement was adopted in order to create effective conditions for the free circulation of vehicles within the EAEU, simplify the relevant procedures for moving, buying and selling and other legal actions related to vehicles, as well as strengthen control over their movement across the customs borders of the EAEU.

From November 2, 2022, it was necessary to ensure the release into circulation of self-propelled machines and other types of equipment (tractors, road, construction, warehouse, etc. equipment) only with the issuance of an electronic passport.

Due to the lack of integration of the systems of national operators of the EAEU member states, it was not possible to proceed to the registration of a digital passport by the specified deadline.

In order to smooth out the multi-speed information readiness of the EAEU member states, as well as to ensure the free circulation of self-propelled vehicles and other types of equipment on the EAEU market, on November 3, the Commission Board extended the deadline for the transition to issuing only electronic passports for Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan until December 15 this year.

The Russian Federation has started issuing only electronic passports for the above-mentioned equipment since November 2 of this year.

At the same time, self-propelled vehicles and other types of equipment imported into the Russian Federation with "paper" passports are allowed to be registered until December 15 this year.

Today, in order to ensure full-fledged information interaction, the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with colleagues from the EAEU member states, is working on the issue of extending the transition period to electronic passports for June 1, 2023.
