An exhibition of convicts' products was held in the north of Kazakhstan

The Department of the Penal Enforcement System and the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the North Kazakhstan region organized an exhibition and presentation of products manufactured by convicts serving sentences in subordinate institutions.

The exhibition was held at the site of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs as part of the interaction and attraction of new small and medium-sized businesses.

At the moment, there are 13 individual entrepreneurs and 4 limited liability partnerships operating in five institutions of the region. A total of 620 convicted persons have been employed.

Convicts are engaged in the manufacture of oil and cake from oilseeds, horse harnesses, metal, wooden and bath products, soft toys, golits and raincoats, the assembly of upholstered furniture, the production of lumber, the re-sorting of waste paper, in institutions there is a sewing production of various directions and greenhouses.

Natalia Danilova is one of the most active entrepreneurs. She has been cooperating with Institution No.50 for 9 years now. An individual entrepreneur specializes in sewing soft toys. The manufactured goods are sold not only throughout Kazakhstan, but also shipped to the CIS countries.

Sewing training is conducted on the territory of institutions by specialists of the North Kazakhstan Vocational College, at the end of the course, convicts receive a state-issued certificate.

Among all the products presented, horse ammunition made by convicts of institution No.48 stands out in particular. They work in the individual enterprise "Osipov", which has been operating on the territory of the institution for more than 4 years.

«Before starting work, we train convicts in advance in all the basics of product manufacturing technology. This is a very laborious manual work»,- said master Bolat Kuanyshbayev.

Backgammon, astau and ships: these souvenirs made of wood are also the work of convicts serving sentences in institution No.51.

«The correction of convicts through their employment is one of the main directions of the penal enforcement system. A part of the wages received by convicts is withheld to repay the claim debt. It should also be noted that the Department of the Penal Enforcement system is open for cooperation with entrepreneurs of the region»,- said Tatyana Tulegenova, the chief specialist of the convicts labor organization group of the Department.
