Beekeepers and sericulturists are trained in the institution of maximum security of the North Kazakhstan Region

A solemn event dedicated to the new academic year was held at Institution №51. Congratulations were delivered by Deputy Chief for General Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel of Justice Svetlana Spasskaya, Director of the Ayyrtau Agrotechnical College Berik Zhanakhmetov, as well as head of the department for educational and organizational work in institutions Alexey Zozulya.
For the 2024-2025 academic year, 100 convicts were recruited in the following specialties: a master builder of a wide profile, a gas-electric welder, a seamstress, a master of landscaping, a landscape designer, as well as a beekeeper and a sericulturist at the KSU "Ayyrtau Agrotechnical College of the village of Saumalkol in Ayyrtau district" and the CHU "North Kazakhstan College of Professional Training and Service".
The specialties of beekeepers and sericulturists were introduced into the educational program of the institution for the first time. For 10 months, specialists will train convicts through the study of special literature, video materials, as well as practice.
For the purpose of a visual practical part, beehives with bees, protective suits and other necessary equipment were brought to the institution. In the near future, it is planned to install special incubators for growing silkworm caterpillars.
"Competent beekeepers and silkworms should understand the physiology and behavior of these insects, take care of them. In addition, it is necessary to be able to collect and process products produced by bees and silkworm caterpillars.
These professions are in demand not only because of the products they produce. According to the United Nations, for example, a third of the world's food production depends on bees. Bees pollinate plants and increase their productivity, and therefore taking care of them is a very important task. After their release, the convicts will be able to easily find a job or open their own production," the institution said.
