Employees of the Department of the Penal Enforcement System in the North Kazakhstan region met with Yerbol Otarbayev

Erbol Yesilbayuly Otarbayev, awarded by the decree of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Order of "Aybin" of the III degree for bravery shown in the performance of military duty during the escape of prisoners from the colony in Aktau in 2010, held a meeting with young employees of subordinate institutions of the Department of Criminal Justice for North Kazakhstan region.
The escape of prisoners from the colony in the Mangystau region, which occurred on the night of June 21-22, became one of the largest in the modern history of Kazakhstan. Yerbol Otarbayev, who is serving in Aktau, was 19 years old at the time of the incident, but he was able to show heroism and confront 21 armed prisoners.
Deputy Head of the Department, Lieutenant Colonel of Justice Kanat Suleimenov, Chairman of the Veterans Council Yerkeulan Bekturov and Senior officer of the Faculty of Postgraduate and Additional Education of the Academy of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Colonel Berik Akhmetzhanov made introductory remarks to the invited guests.
During the meeting, Erbol Yesilbayuly shared with the audience the story of that day, his feelings, told about his injuries and how his life turned out.
"I remember this night to the smallest detail and will never forget it. When I was on duty, the lights went out all around the colony. It turned out that the transformer had burned down. Suddenly I saw the convicts running towards me. Suddenly they started shooting. I returned fire and wounded one. I was hit too. As a result, the bone of the left arm is broken, one rib is missing, and 25% of the lungs are missing. There's only one bullet left, which I've been living with for 13 years now. At that moment, there was only one thought in my head: to stop them. There was no time for emotions and thoughts. I understood that I was responsible for the life of every civilian. This is my duty to the Motherland.
This event became the basis of the plot of the Kazakh film "The Sixth Post". Surely many of you have heard. I would like to point out that the story of friendship between the main character and his best friend is just part of the plot. It was added for the purpose of an instructive lesson for the younger generation," Yerbol Otarbayev shared.
At the moment, Erbol Otarbayev holds the rank of captain and is a first-year student of the Faculty of Postgraduate and Additional Education of the Academy of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Petropavlovsk. He and his wife have three children.
At the end of the meeting, organized as part of the implementation of the comprehensive Roadmap plan for 2023-2025, the guests gave guidance to young employees, wished them good luck and prosperity in their service. The personnel, in turn, expressed their gratitude for the organized meeting and took memorable photos.
