Today our country has embarked on the path of development of a New Kazakhstan. In his message dated March 16, 2022, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the protection of fundamental rights to life, freedom and personal inviolability of citizens is of paramount importance.

In the past, some people fought for freedom, others for equality. The path of each of them was long and difficult. They went through victories and defeats, the joy and sadness of life. One of these prisoners was the man who defeated apartheid in the Republic of South Africa, Nelson Mandela.

He decided to go against arbitrariness and tyranny, found the courage to stand up for freedom and human rights.

Since the beginning of 2022, lectures, seminars, thematic meetings and theatrical productions dedicated to Nelson Mandela and his minimum standard rules have been held on an ongoing basis at Institution No. 50.

One of the most memorable and important events was the creation of the Nelson Mandela Corner in detachment No. 3.

The convicted Ulyana Korelina depicted a portrait of the leader, accurately conveying facial features reflecting obstinacy of character, justice and a firm belief in human rights. Also, in order for the convicts to have an idea of the price paid for the adoption of the current "Universal Declaration of Human Rights", a booklet album with photos and theses of Mandela was created.

"Before I drew the portrait, I read and studied information about the life and work of Nelson Mandela. I realized that he is definitely a great man who dedicated his life to humanity and the fight for their rights",- the convict shares.
