Attempts to bring prohibited items into the territory of the institution of the penal system are not uncommon.
The administration of penal institutions where convicted persons are serving their sentences has the right to search convicts, the premises in which they live, as well as inspect their belongings, inspect vehicles arriving on the territory of the institution, seize prohibited items and documents.
For 7 months of 2022, employees of the inspection group of the RSI "EC-164/3 Institution" of the Department of the Penal Enforcement System for the North Kazakhstan Region compiled and submitted to the specialized administrative court five materials concerning citizens who committed an administrative offense. Attempts to smuggle funds totaling 16700 tenge and one cell phone were identified. These citizens were found guilty of committing an administrative offense and, accordingly, were subjected to administrative penalties.
In order to prevent attempts to transfer prohibited items, the security territory of the institution is patrolled around the clock. Convicts and their relatives are warned about the responsibility for carrying and transferring prohibited items. A thorough inspection of the transmitted parcels and parcels, as well as persons who have arrived to visit the convicts, is organized. The waiting rooms contain visual information about persons who tried to bring prohibited items into institutions, indicating administrative or criminal liability measures. Items that are not authorized for use by convicts are seized and, by court order, are subject to conversion to State revenue or destroyed.
It should be noted that in the Republican State Institution "EC-164/3 Institution", a set of measures to prevent the passage of prohibited items is carried out on an ongoing basis.
