Convicts in North Kazakhstan use Instagram

Since May 2022, female convicts of the ES-164/6 Institution (women's colony) of the Department of the Penal Enforcement System for the North Kazakhstan Region have been using an unusual "Instagram".

The convicted Ayman was sentenced to 5 years in prison for illegal handling of narcotic drugs. Upon arrival at the Institution, Ayman differed from other convicts with her creative ideas. Before her imprisonment, she used various social networks. So the idea came about to run her own page-the newspaper "Instagram" in the squad, in which she can present her ideas and benefit.

I wanted to make some adjustments on my behalf in the life of the squad, but I didn't know exactly how to do it. I have developed a "Health Club – Crossfit". Then I came up with the idea of creating a newspaper, but an unusual one. That's how the idea of "Instagram" came about. I started remembering the design of this social network, how it looks. The female convicts from the squad supported my idea and helped. Together we made an insta-newspaper. There are 6 categories: "Health tips", "Tips on how to keep a vegetable garden", "Beauty tips", "Unusual reminders" (for example, how to drink water correctly), "Memos". A special category of summer is called "Strawberry", it contains options for budget and affordable masks for the face, neck, hands. The female convicts and I really liked this idea, there are plans to create another newspaper in order for it to be just as interesting. When I go to the newspaper to update the information, many people come up, every time they look forward to something interesting and unusual. They put likes, come up and draw hearts. There is also such a category, for example, a person has read a book, she liked it, they want to share it. They can also come up, tell me the name and author of the book, leave an impression and comment if this news is interesting for "Insta-readers", then I bring this news to the Insta-newspaper. The information is updated periodically once a week, except for the category "Memos", I update it once a month. I take information from newspapers and magazines. The main ones are: magazines "Lisa", "Non-fictional stories", "Korean cosmetics", "Avon". Many female convicts are given magazines by their relatives, they read them, then they give them to me, I take all the most interesting things. A lot of offers come from female convicts, they come up to me, say what do you think, maybe next week we will add this or that information. Before updating the information, I first coordinate it with the head of the squad. The very process of searching for news is very interesting for me. About the health club. There are categories: "Team Building", "Yoga", "Zumba". New workouts every week. They will not be repeated," says the convicted Ayman.
In educational work with convicted women, much attention is paid to their social development. Since 2021, the literary club "Ellegia" has been functioning in the women's colony of Petropavlovsk, which is gaining more and more participants every day, a circle "Health Club – Crossfit" has also been organized, in which most of the "youth" participate, after graduating from college in the specialties "Landscape Design" and "Hairdresser", with convicts contests on gardening, planting flowers in the landscaping of the institution's territory and various contests on creating hairstyles, facial care, etc. The results of this work bring their positive results. The creation of an "Instagram" newspaper has a positive effect on convicts and unites the squad unit, - the head of the Department for educational and socio-psychological work among convicts of the ES-164/6 Institution of the Ministry of Justice for the North Kazakhstan Region, Justice Major Oksana Vyshar.

There are more than 200 convicts in the women's colony of Petropavlovsk.
