Psychological support for relatives of convicts

Social and family ties are one of the main components in the psychological adaptation of convicted women in the ES - 164/6 Institution of the Department of the Penal Enforcement System for the North Kazakhstan Region. Often relatives talk about the fear of meeting a changed person and realizing that they will not be able to help in any way. Therefore, the psychological service of the institution takes a differentiated approach to the family relationships of each convicted woman, helps to present or prescribe a realistic version of the meeting, as well as expectations from the meeting.

Communication of the psychological service with relatives of convicts arriving for long visits is also of great importance. This gives a sense of calm, confidence for women held in places of deprivation of liberty. After such meetings, women in the institution try to prove their correction, strive to correct their mistakes.

Educational activities aimed by the psychological service at strengthening family relations, actions "Letter to relatives", literary and musical evenings "Mom, you are my heart", "Family Day through the eyes of children of convicts", "Oh, Ana" are also effective. These events cause a lot of positive emotions, giving significant importance to the feeling of family, self-importance, pride in their children. Convicted women are happy to prepare for such events, looking forward to meetings on video demonstrations with such distant, but close and dear persons. Such emotional psychological measures are very useful for women serving sentences in an institution, they allow women to relieve psychological stress associated with feelings about loved ones, reduce anxiety and aggression, form a favorable psychological atmosphere in the squad and friendly relations between mother and child, spouses, and also prevent them from having a negative mental state caused by isolation from society.
