Psychologists of penitentiary institutions of the Department of Criminal Justice of the North Kazakhstan Region took part in a psychological training seminar on the topic "Improving the skills of rehabilitation work with persons who were under the influence of destructive religious movements". The topic of this seminar was chosen not by chance, since psychologists are participants in the rehabilitation process with those convicted of crimes from the sphere of religious extremism and terrorism, and the knowledge and skills that they received at this seminar were not superfluous for their work.
The speaker of the seminar was an experienced psychologist of the KSU "Center for Public Development and Information" of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan Region, specializing in rehabilitation work with the above-mentioned category of people who were under the influence of destructive religious ideology. During the seminar, the participants received information about the peculiarities and psychological aspects of rehabilitation work, in particular, about the differences in the" picture of the world " between atheists and people of faith, about the peculiarities of the psychology of people who identify with Islam.
Psychologist T. S. Orazov demonstrated to his colleagues-psychologists the skills of individual and diagnostic work that he had developed in his practice, drawing attention to the use of projective "drawing" techniques, telling about the universality and effectiveness of these tests.
The speaker also spoke about the peculiarities in the approaches to psychological and theological rehabilitation that take place in the process of deradicalization and rehabilitation.
The event was held at an excellent organizational and methodological level, psychologists received new knowledge and skills, shared their experience and vision of various issues related to the psychological support of their wards.
It should be noted that such events are not held for the first time, which indicates a fairly close cooperation and interaction between the KSU "Center for Public Development and Information" and the Department of Criminal Justice for the North Kazakhstan Region, within the framework of a previously signed Memorandum, according to which the Center's specialists are called upon to provide comprehensive practical and methodological assistance.
