Convicts serving their sentences in institution No. 46 (maximum security) made checkers and chess for blind Pavlodar residents. The products were handed over to the staff of the specialized library for the blind and visually impaired of the city of Pavlodar. In turn, the library staff presented the convicts with more than 50 books. The event is timed to coincide with the International Book Donation Day.
- We were approached by the staff of a specialized library with a request to make them checkers and chess. We have already brought them such products before, but there are a lot of readers in the library, there are not enough chess for everyone. We passed the request to the heads of the detachments, they told the convicts. Several prisoners responded to the appeal. They know the manufacturing technology, as they have done this before. Checkers and chess are made so that the blind can distinguish white from black, play blindly. Braille alphabet was brought for the little blind and visually impaired people of Pavlodar. As a gift, we received more than 50 books for the colony's library fund.- said the employee of the institution, Daniyar Kasimov.
According to the colony staff, this is not the first friendly meeting. Previously, prisoners made chess, checkers, slates, Braille and even a map of the Pavlodar region for blind citizens.
