With the support of the probation service of the Shalkar district of the Department of Penal Correction in the Aktobe region, 3 convicts registered with the help of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken" won a grant in the amount of 584,400 tenge.

In order to help convicts released from prison become an entrepreneur, the probation service of the Shalkar district sent 3 convicts to the Basics of Entrepreneurship courses under the Bastau Business project at the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken". In addition to receiving a scholarship in the amount of 16,000 tenge, the convicts successfully defended their business project and eventually won an irrevocable grant in the amount of 584,400 tenge.

For the manufacture of various wood products (dishes for national dishes) with machines purchased with an irrevocable grant, convict K. collects orders through a social network. According to him, currently a large number of orders for tables and national dishes are received from neighbors and villagers.

He served his sentence in a maximum security correctional institution, worked there for 7 years in a carpentry shop, for good behavior, his imprisonment was replaced with a milder type of punishment and was taken for probation control. The carpenter dreams of increasing his mini-workshop in the future, increasing the number of workers and says he wants to help his children who live separately.

Convicted A., released from a correctional institution under Article 73 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and taken for probation control, even before his conviction, was engaged in the production of plastic windows in a small workshop in the courtyard of his house. However, during the three years spent behind bars, its production stopped, and the machines became outdated. Now he has resumed the work of his production with new machines purchased with the winning grant, and accepts orders from villages and the region.

The 35-year-old convict plans to increase production in the future and hire the same convicts as himself.

At the same time, convicted A., released from a medium-security correctional facility, whose sentence was replaced with a milder type of punishment, and taken under probation control, takes orders for doner at a small fast food kiosk located near the train station. He was also helped by the probation service staff to purchase equipment for cooking fast food for the winning grant in the amount of 584,000 tenge.

"Since 3 convicts registered with the probation service wanted to engage in the above activities, we sent them to learn the basics of entrepreneurship under the Bastau Business project at the NCE RK Atameken. Currently, convicts who have opened their own business have good behavior.

In general, such support provided to convicted citizens contributes to their rapid adaptation in society and the prevention and suppression of repeated crimes," says the senior inspector of the probation service of the Shalkar district, Captain of Justice Akgul Aimbetova.

In turn, 3 convicts registered with the probation service, who have opened their own business, with which they earn a living, express gratitude to the Shalkar district probation service.
