Since the beginning of 2021, the probation service of the Department of Penal Correction in the Aktobe region has employed 231 convicts (2020 - 224 convicts), work in this direction has been done in 15 district probation services. In particular, the convicts were employed in paid public works, in social workplaces, according to the quota of jobs and at private enterprises of the district.
"19 percent of the employed convicts did not have a specialty before. It is worth noting that in the employment of convicts registered for probation, much attention is paid to the activities carried out by employment centers in the regions. So, this year, since the beginning of the year, 23 job fairs have been held in the region. 146 convicts registered with the probation services of the region participated in the fairs, as a result, 70 convicts were employed for permanent work (50 in 2020). I would especially like to note that the job fair held here by the employment centers is of great importance for improving the social status of convicts registered with the probation service.
In addition, the employment of convicts registered for probation will contribute to the prevention of repeated crimes by convicts and their steady transition to the path of correction," says Major of Justice Azamat Naukenov, Head of the Probation Service Management Department of the Department of Criminal Justice in the Aktobe region.
Among the employed convicts there are also persons released from correctional institutions. One example is the convict K. released under Article 73 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, i.e., having taken the path of correction, the court replaced the unserved part of the punishment in the form of deprivation of liberty with restriction of liberty. As part of the provision of social and legal assistance by employees of the Khromtau district probation, convicted K. was sent to short-term training courses at the district employment center, as a result of which he received the specialty "electrician". Currently, he is employed at the Don Mining and Processing Plant, where he provides his family with conscientious work today.
