Scientific-practical conference dedicated to the Day of Spiritual Concord was held in Astana

In Astana, a scientific and practical conference was held on the theme: "The Kazakhstani way: from dialogue to spiritual harmony" dedicated to the Day of Spiritual Concord. The event is organized by the International Center of Cultures and Religions.

The Day of Spiritual Accord, initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev in the early years of the establishment of independence of our state, is now celebrated annually as a day of seeking reconciliation, establishing mutual understanding between people, mercy and helping one's neighbor.

In the welcoming speech Chairman of the Committee of Public Accord of the Ministry of Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Dzhanakhanov congratulated everyone on the significant holiday, noting that “The experience of Kazakhstan is irrefutable evidence that constructive dialogue and mutual understanding can become a real platform for a democratic state, in which religious and ethnic diversity is perceived as national wealth. Representatives of more than 130 ethnic groups and 18 faiths live in peace and harmony in Kazakhstan. Today more than 3,700 religious associations, running more than 3,500 places of worship, are free to carry out their activities in the country.”

In his turn, the director of the International Center of Cultures and Religions A.P. Abuov emphasized that “Just the other day in Astana, the VI Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions completed its work. The experience of Kazakhstan proves that constructive dialogue and mutual understanding can become a platform for the spiritual consolidation of people. Our history of the emergence of statehood demonstrates that the emergence of this holiday has deep spiritual roots. Today, the Day of Spiritual Concord rallies people of Kazakhstan around traditional moral values, promotes the ideas of tolerance and spiritual harmony in the name of peace and stability in Kazakhstani society. ”

Leaders of religious associations of Kazakhstan noted that our greatest value, which must be preserved and increased, is peace and harmony. Therefore, it is no coincidence that in our republic there are many holidays that are associated with the unity of people living in the country. One of them is the Day of Spiritual Accord. This tradition began 26 years ago with the first session of the World Congress of Spiritual Concord, held in October 1992.

The scientific and practical conference was attended by the heads of authorized state bodies and representatives of religious associations of Kazakhstan, scientific and expert community and non-governmental organizations involved in intercultural and interfaith dialogue.
