VIII Forum of Religious Scholars of Kazakhstan "Spiritual Security of Kazakhstani Society: Experience and Prospects"

Today, on November 23, 2018, VIII Forum of Religious Scholars of Kazakhstan "Spiritual Security of Kazakhstani Society: Experience and Prospects" was held in the Central Concert Hall "Kazakhstan".

In his greeting, Vice-Minister of Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Aryn noted that the Forum is a significant dialogue platform where vital and strategic interests of our state and society are formed, and therefore the civic duty of authoritative religious scholars and theologians, pedagogical community, as well as a wide representation of civil society institutions societies is to support and facilitate the effective implementation of state policy in the religious sphere, to resist devaluation and erosion of morality.

The Forum was attended by G. Shoykin, Head of the Section of the Department of Internal Policy of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rector of the Eurasian Law Academy named after D.A. Kunaev O. Zhalairi, leaders and representatives of state bodies, well-known Kazakhstani religious scholars, leaders of NGOs and religious associations, media representatives.

The content of the Forum consisted of two sections: “The role of religious scholars of Kazakhstan in the prevention of religious extremism and terrorism”, “On the state of religious freedom in the Republic of Kazakhstan”, which discussed the main issues related to the religious situation in Kazakhstan, improving the outreach work on prevention of religious extremism, the formation of the Kazakhstani school of Islamic studies and much more.

Following the Forum, an award ceremony was held for the leading religious scholars of Kazakhstan, conceptual recommendations were adopted, and the report “On the State of Religious Freedom in the Republic of Kazakhstan” was presented for the first time.

It should be noted that the Forum of Religious Scholars of Kazakhstan, as an effective permanent discussion platform for the integration of domestic scholars, representatives of state bodies, religious associations, and public organizations working in the field of religion, makes its valuable contribution to the good of our country.
