The issues of countering religious fundamentalism were discussed

Today, on August 26 the Akimat of Nur-Sultan organized a seminar «Current issues of religious and political fundamentalism» at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The seminar was attended by Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nukezhanov Yerzhan, Head of the Department for Religious Affairs of the Akimat of Nur-Sultan Almukhanov Nurdaulet, Deputy Chairman of  the SAMK Naib Mufti Ongarov Yershat and imams of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan (SAMK) of  Nur-Sultan.

 

1. Nukezhanov announced and explained about the three main activities of the Committee on Religious Affairs: information and explanatory work among the population, prevention of manifestations of religious extremism in the Internet space, as well as rehabilitation and adaptation of followers of destructive religious movements (DRM) to the social environment.

In addition, E. Nukezhanov made a number of proposals to the SAMK regarding the professional development of mosque imams, rehabilitation and re-socialization of citizens who are in the ranks of the DRM, as well as the development of modern communication skills of clergymen working in the Internet space.

Following the results of the seminar the participants expressed their readiness for further cooperation in the implementation of state policy in the field of religious activity.
