Chairman of the Religious Affairs Committee met with representatives of the Strive Global programme Irene Rodriguez Belmonte and Farangiz Atamuradova

On April 26, 2018, in the building of the “House of Ministries”, the leadership of the Religious Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting with representatives of the Strive Global programme Irene Rodriguez Belmonte and Farangiz Atamuradova.

The Kazakhstani side was headed by the chairman of the Religious Affairs Committee of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Civil Society of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ongarbaev Erkin Anuarovich. Representatives of the Headquarters of the Antiterrorist Center of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Information and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan also attended the meeting.

During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of cooperation between interested governmental bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Hedaya International Center for Combating Violent Extremism within the framework of the Strive Global programme.

The parties exchanged views and suggestions on issues of support from the authorized body in the field of religion of civil society initiatives to prevent manifestations of violent extremism.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in implementing joint projects aimed at countering religious extremism and terrorism in Kazakhstan.
