Chairman of the Environmental Regulation and Control Committee Zulfukhar Zholdasov held a meeting with representatives of the North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC). The topic of discussion was the issue of reducing the impact on the environment.
Recently, residents of the city of Atyrau and the nearest settlements have regularly received complaints and appeals about the deterioration of the atmospheric air quality of the region. The Committee demanded that the company conduct a comprehensive study of data from Air quality monitoring Stations, which showed that the maximum permissible concentration of pollutants was exceeded.
Representatives of the North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) told about the measures taken in the work to meet the conditions of environmental management and planned measures to reduce emissions into the environment. In addition, the company will introduce a new wastewater treatment plant by the end of 2022, which will allow to increase the re-circulation of water up to 70%.
At the end of the event, it was decided that the company will soon have to submit a strategic plan to reduce emissions, a plan to monitor the effectiveness of the proposed measures, a landscaping project, a roadmap for the introduction of an automated monitoring system for sources of pollutants, taking into account international experience.
The Committee is also instructed to continue research on the quality of atmospheric air in nearby settlements, in order to determine the possible impact of NCOC sources. These measures, first of all, will allow us to assess the efficiency of the enterprise in improving the environment.
