On July 27, 2021, a meeting of the Fourth Central Asian Conference on Climate Change was held in Dushanbe.
The Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev made a report at the event from the Kazakh side, who informed about the measures taken by the country to improve the climate policy, the introduction of green technologies, and also touched upon the issues of integrated solution of environmental problems of the Aral region.
And for the successful solution of tasks in this direction, the Minister proposed to create a Regional Climate Hub of Central Asia with a location in Kazakhstan, whose activities could be aimed at solving issues of "green" growth in the region through the implementation of projects, technology transfer and knowledge exchange.
On the same day, as part of the exchange of experience between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, a seminar on environmental protection and water quality of the Syrdarya River basin was held, which was attended by Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control Zulfukhar Zholdasov.
During the Seminar, the experts presented information about the work of the Kazakh-Uzbek joint working group on environmental protection and water quality of the Syrdarya River basin and shared their experience in conducting coordinated monitoring and data exchange of river water quality, as well as on sources that have a negative impact on the state of water quality.
From our side, the trend of changes in the flow volume for the period from 2000-2021 is presented, as well as the forecast of changes in the flow of the Syrdarya River for the future until 2040.
The result of the event was that it was proposed to create a database of joint monitoring on the water quality of the Syrdarya River for posting on the platform of international organizations, to consider the possibility of attracting international donors to introduce best practices of cooperation in the field of environmental protection, and based on the experience gained at the seminar, to consider the possibility of joining the Joint Working Group on the Water Quality of the Syrdarya River.
It should be noted that the proposed solutions are supported by the Uzbek side.
The exchange of experience is one of the most effective tools for the development of any field of activity, and is usually considered effective. Joint work on the issue of climate conditions is an important segment in its successful implementation, based on this, we hope that the exchange of experience between the two states will give a positive result.
