Unauthorized waste disposal in Kostanay region

Preventive control in relation to the branch of JSC "Aluminum of Kazakhstan" Torgai bauxite Ore Management (TBRU) revealed a number of violations of the environmental legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among them is the unauthorized placement of construction waste in the amount of 430,000 tons (187,000 m3) on the second Arkalyk land plot with a total area of 35 hectares.
According to this fact, the Department of Ecology of the Kostanay region issued orders on the elimination of violations and compensation for damage in the amount of 30 million tenge.
It was instructed to carry out measures for the disposal, processing, neutralization and safe disposal of waste, providing for the possibility of their secondary use.
In accordance with the letter of guarantee, the project "Elimination of the consequences of mining activities after the development of the 35-hectare field of the second Arkalyk section of the Torgai bauxite Ore Management (TBRU)"was developed.
The company has carried out technical recultivation, and in the autumn of this year, biological recultivation will be carried out by sowing perennial grasses. It is important to note that the restoration of spent quarries will lead to the resuscitation of disturbed lands for their further targeted use.
