Waste-to-income

Waste-to-income

The problem of industrial waste disposal has been and remains relevant for many cities, where the extraction of various rocks and materials causes some damage to the environment. Absolutely waste-free production is still only a dream, but for a long time the so-called secondary raw materials have been successfully used in municipal construction and civil construction. And today this experience is very successfully applied in certain areas and regions of Kazakhstan.
So, last year, the Department of Ecology of the Kostanay region carried out a lot of work on the involvement of industrial waste in construction projects, so that only in the last two years, the volume of formation of so-called industrial "garbage" in the region decreased by 15%. And if in 2019 this figure was 287.8 million tons, then in 2020 the indicator decreased by 43.2 million tons, which is certainly a big plus for the ecology of this region.
It is important to note that now large enterprises of the region, whose waste has an impact on the environment, use slag crushed stone, rock and other accumulated inert materials for the implementation of new projects for the reconstruction and overhaul of highways of national significance.
Recycling of municipal waste is no longer a foreign know-how for Kazakhstanis. Today, only in the territory of Kostanay region, more than a thousand containers for separate collection of waste: plastic, glass, paper, tin products are installed. And over the past year alone, more than 1,500 tons of used raw materials were collected and transferred for processing. In addition, now in Kostanay there is a workshop for processing polymer waste with a capacity of up to 30 tons per year. According to a special technology, sewer manholes are produced from waste there and, in the future, paving stones and tiles will be produced.
In 2020, Kostanay region was investigated for the presence of natural landfills by satellite sensing of JSC NC "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary". Using satellite images, 538 unauthorized landfills were identified, most of which were eliminated.
It is no secret that the issue of hazardous waste disposal is a headache in many areas. In the Naurzum district, this problem was solved by building a specialized storage facility, which housed most of the toxic waste and toxic chemicals. With the assistance of the Department, containers for demercurization - the collection of spent mercury-containing lamps-were installed in order to introduce environmentally friendly technologies. A project for the processing of medical waste has also been successfully implemented, eliminating their incineration. All this, undoubtedly, allowed to improve the state of the environment in all settlements of the Kostanay region.
