Atyrau ecologists have collected damages from Tengizchevroil LLP for a total amount of more than 726 million tenge

The Department of Ecology of the Atyrau region conducted preventive control with visits and unscheduled inspection of compliance with environmental legislation in relation to Tengizchevroil LLP.

It was found that Tengizchevroil LLP had carried out excess emissions in the form of emissions of pollutants into the environment, including due to gas flaring at flare installations.
As a result, the LLP was presented with orders for compensation for damage, violation of the environmental legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the amount of more than 145 million tenge. However, Tengizchevroil LLP did not voluntarily comply with the above requirements.
In this regard, the department appealed to the court of Nur-Sultan to recover the amount of damages from Tengizchevroil LLP to the state revenue.
By the decisions of the Nur-Sultan court of October 21 and November 2, 2020, the Department's claims against Tengizchevroil LLP were satisfied.
The defendant, who disagreed with the court of first instance, filed an appeal to cancel the orders and judicial acts.
The specialized judicial board of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, having studied the case materials, refused to satisfy the appeal of Tengizchevroil LLP.
The court decisions have entered into force.
