In the Atyrau region, environmentalists have achieved the purification of the soil from petroleum products in court

Atyrau region is one of the most polluted regions. After all, it is here that oil is extracted and processed.
Almost 15 years ago, in 2006, the operation of the Akzhayyk washing and steaming station, which carried out complex preparation of tanks for filling oil products, was suspended.
The reason for this was the non-execution of the court decision of "Akzhayyk Zapad-2006" LLP on the transfer of the station outside the city.
Subsequently, the land plot on which the PPP is located became the property of JSC "KTZ-Cargo Transportation" - "Atyrau branch of the State Enterprise".
In 2019, the Department of Ecology conducted an unscheduled inspection of the branch of this enterprise. The inspection revealed contamination of the soil cover with oil, which was stored in metal containers since 2006. As a result, an oil slick of considerable size was formed on the ground.
The Department of Ecology issued an order to the enterprise – to eliminate the consequences of soil contamination. When all the deadlines came out, and the environmental problem was not eliminated, the department went to court. JSC "KTZ-Cargo transportation" was brought to administrative responsibility under Part 3 of Article 462 of the Administrative Code.
The Economic Court of the Atyrau region ordered the branch to comply with the order of environmentalists in a compulsory manner.
At present, the work on the elimination of the consequences of pollution has been completed on the territory of the Akzhayik PPS. In addition, the dismantling of the building will continue.
