In Ust-Kamenogorsk, violations were detected and stopped at a large facility of Kazzinc LLP

As you know, Ust-Kamenogorsk is one of the most polluted cities in Kazakhstan. The largest source of pollution is the Ust-Kamenogorsk Metallurgical Plant of Kazzinc LLP.
The Department of Ecology for East Kazakhstan Region constantly conducts preventive control of the enterprise.
The recent results of the professional control showed the excess of the MPI standards for sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide in the period of adverse meteorological conditions (NMU).
Despite the obligations of enterprises to reduce emissions during the NMU period through a number of technical and technological measures, up to the suspension of some sources, the results of the conducted analyses showed that the standards were exceeded.
These exceedances indicate an insufficient degree of gas purification, poor quality of the supplied raw materials and technical wear of the gas purification system.
The damage caused by the enterprise to the environment amounted to 49 million tenge.
The company was issued an order to carry out effective technical measures for the reconstruction of gas flues and equipment in the gas cleaning system.
To date, the company plans to install additional equipment to avoid sudden spikes in the concentration of sulfur dioxide in the gases, post-treatment of "tail" gases or transfer to double-contacting of zinc production gases.
