In Aktobe region, the company was fined more than 2.3 million tenge for soil contamination with oil products

On New Year's Eve, the department of the Aktobe region received an appeal from the akim of the Kenkiyak rural district about a burst pipeline on the line of the underground collector of the Mortuk field of JSC "KMK Munai".
The Department of Ecology conducted an unscheduled inspection on this fact.
It turned out that the company's information about the accident was provided untimely – a day later, only on December 27. On the section of the oil pipeline, due to a gust, contamination of the land with oil products was allowed. This fact is confirmed by the results of soil analysis.
Environmental pollution occurred due to corrosion wear of the material of the lines and insufficient control over the technical condition of the pipelines. Thus, the company does not comply with the norms of the environmental legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the time of the inspection, measures were taken to clean up and remove the soil contaminated with oil products at the site of the emergency gust of the JSC.
The results of the audit of JSC "KMK Munai" brought to administrative responsibility under part 1 of article 324, article 327 and section 2 of article 334 of the administrative code. The total amount of administrative fines, taking into account the costs planned for the restoration of the environment by the direct method, amounted to more than 2.3 million tenge.
