In Kostanay, eco-activists found a secondary use for Christmas trees thrown into a landfill

Every year after the New Year holidays, Kazakhstanis face the problem of accumulating a huge number of Christmas trees on garbage sites.
This time, social activists and eco-activists of Kostanay found an alternative option for the "New Year's beauty" - a more rational and eco-friendly way to dispose of it.
At the initiative of Eco-activists of the ecological club "Neco" and eco-volunteers, together with the Department of Ecology of the Kostanay region and the UPRRP, the first environmental campaign to collect Christmas trees in Kostanay was launched last weekend.
The campaign began with the Airport and KSK microdistricts. Over the past weekend, the total number of Christmas trees collected was more than 500 pieces.
At the beginning of this week, five microdistricts of the regional center were covered. At least 1,500 Christmas trees have been collected.
To date, this action is still ongoing. It is planned to cover three more microdistricts of the city.
All the collected Christmas trees are sent to the sole proprietor "Daniyarov R", where they will be processed into wood chips and this spring, when the snow comes down, will be donated to dacha societies for secondary use.
It should be noted that this is the first such action in the Kostanay region. The organizers hope that it will be held on a permanent basis.
