According to the Chairman, the most important problems of the environmental situation in the country are: pollution of atmospheric air, surface water, land resources, imperfect system of waste management of production and consumption, historical pollution and lack of landscaping.

These cities are: Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Temirtau, Atyrau, Aktobe, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Karaganda, Balkhash, Zhezkazgan and Shymkent.
During the meeting, the heads of environmental departments of these regions were heard. In each of them, large-scale work is being carried out to improve the environmental situation, and the timing of all measures is taken under special control.
The key ones are modernization and reconstruction of workshops of plants that cause environmental damage, reconstruction of a complex of treatment facilities, planting of green spaces, cleaning of riverbeds, elimination of hazardous waste, construction of new landfills, connection of residential areas to gasification, switching of vehicles to environmentally friendly fuels.
These steps will reduce hydrogen sulfide emissions, increase green spaces, conserve water resources, control groundwater pollution, reduce the number of spontaneous landfills, and minimize land pollution.
By 2024, 10 cities in the country will be able to reduce the level of high pollution from 9 to an average of 6, build 7 sewage treatment plants, 24 new landfills, and plant 2 billion trees. trees in woodlands and 15 million in localities, carry out the elimination of historically polluted land.
Implementation of roadmaps to improve the environmental situation is envisaged in all 17 regions of the country.

For example, Zulfukhar Zholdasov instructed to create an Environmental Council consisting of representatives of the public, Executive bodies, eco-activists and volunteers. The activities of the Council will be aimed at holding quarterly public meetings with a report on the work being carried out and RAID inspections of enterprises to control their activities and reduce environmental pollution.
