The V International Environmental Forum was held in Uralsk

Uralsk hosted the V International Environmental Forum "Uralsk Green Forum" (UGF), organized by the company "Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V." (KPO) together with the Akimat of the West Kazakhstan region.

The forum was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Committee on Ecology and Nature Management of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regional government agencies, industry, specialized associations and agencies.

The main purpose of the event is the exchange of experience for further cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the concept of a "green" economy, strengthening of a comprehensive dialogue on environmental issues to consolidate joint efforts and form a common vision of sustainable development of the region.
Also, among the priorities is to increase the environmental literacy of young people to educate a new generation with environmental values. This topic corresponds to the concept of Kazakhstan's transition to a "green" economy and the goals outlined in the annual Message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the forum, KPO also held several panel sessions for students of local universities dedicated to waste management, sustainable development and promotion of environmental startups.
After all, the involvement of young people in environmental issues not only changes their behavior and attitude, but is also likely to influence the behavioral patterns of their parents, relatives and friends. Young people have a huge potential to change the future of society thanks to their astute mind and desire to distinguish themselves from previous generations.

In his welcoming speech to the forum participants, KPO Director General Giancarlo Ruiu noted that KPO is fully committed to the tasks of Kazakhstan's transition to a "green" economy and supports the need to take active measures to combat climate change.

"Last year, our company adopted a long-term strategy "KPO-365". This is a multi-year program of transition to a “Green KPO”, focused on the principle of "zero greenhouse gas emissions of the 1st and 2nd categories". Today, as part of the "green transition", KPO is exploring the possibility of introducing the concept of carbon neutrality, combating greenhouse gas emissions, including waste heat recovery, carbon capture and storage, as well as renewable energy sources. I am sure that thanks to the joint efforts of all participants, this forum will be held effectively," Giancarlo Ruiu added.

Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Gali Iskaliyev, in his speech, focused on the measures taken for the sustainable development of the region. "We have agreed with KPO on the processing of all food waste. Now the work is being carried out, all this will have a positive impact on our environment," he said.
Eco-Talks "Green Course for a sustainable future" was also held within the framework of the forum for students of the West Kazakhstan region.

According to the forum participants, all topical issues raised during the discussions will be taken into account when making long-term decisions. Environmental awareness has been identified as one of the key areas of the annual Uralsk Green Forum on the path of sustainable environmental development of the region.

Since 2017, the Uralsk Green Forum international environmental Forum has become an effective platform for the exchange of experience and dialogue of the best experts in the field of sustainable development.
