The course for a "green economy"

The next international environmental forum organized by the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating Company and the Akimat of the West Kazakhstan Region was held in Uralsk.

The main work of the forum was the discussion of topical issues in the field of waste management as an important factor in the sustainable development of the West Kazakhstan region, new principles of environmental legislation in the field of waste management, increasing the level of waste recycling and the development of "green" business in the region.
Opening the forum, Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Gali Iskaliyev noted that the West Kazakhstan region is the cleanest region not only among the Republic of Kazakhstan, but also the neighboring regions of the Russian Federation and the primary task is to preserve our nature.
- The quality of life of our people directly depends on the state of the environment – the quality of water, air, land. And we want to remain the cleanest region. KPO BV is the initiator, organizer of this forum and adheres to the Sustainable Development Goals, which were adopted at the UN level. Our region should also adhere to the Sustainable Development Goals, this will allow us, first of all, to improve the quality of life of our people and attract investment. Since investments that go to a clean region are considered a higher priority. Unfortunately, there are no renewable energy projects in our region yet, but we hope that with the support of our partners, projects aimed at supporting and preserving our ecology will be implemented. I express my gratitude to all our entrepreneurs implementing environmental projects, they show with real deeds that with small steps it is possible to achieve ambitious goals and remain the cleanest region. Therefore, I once again call on all entrepreneurs to implement waste management projects, increase green spaces and other projects that contribute to improving the ecology of our region. For its part, the Akimat is ready to provide the necessary support, both with equity participation and subsidies, so that our entrepreneurs can earn money on projects needed by society– - G.Iskaliyev said.
At the end of his speech, the Governor of the West Kazakhstan Region wished everyone fruitful work and noted that holding such events is important and contributes to strengthening partnerships in the development of the "green economy".
Director General of KPO Giancarlo Ruiu noted that the regular holding of such forums has become a good tradition. They are held for the fourth year in a row, bringing together experts, scientists, business representatives and the public. All this is done to discuss a wide range of environmental issues.
The forum was attended by Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zulfukhar Zholdasov, waste management experts and eco-trainers, regional waste recycling companies, heads of relevant ministries and departments. The delegates of the forum stressed the effectiveness of the event. According to them, the high expert level of the participants contributed to a comprehensive discussion and detailed analysis of the issues presented on the agenda.
In particular, Sergey Tsoi, an expert on sustainable development at Eicon, noted that solving environmental problems is the basis for sustainable social and economic development of the region, and it cannot be achieved without the participation of big business. KPO has long established itself as a reliable partner, and the holding of this forum is another confirmation of this.
As the forum participants noted, all topical issues raised during the discussions will be taken into account in further work. Further consultations will be held on them to prepare specific measures and decisions.
At the end of the first part of the forum, the akim of the West Kazakhstan Region presented letters of thanks to the heads of companies engaged in the processing of solid waste.
