The building of the regional akimat (former commercial bank) was built in 1896 by architect A. Bunkin. The building of the regional akimat originally housed the Russian Commercial and Industrial Commercial Bank, which was established in St. Petersburg in 1890 with the participation of French banking houses. The bank had 111 branches (the largest among other banks) in Russia, including Uralsk, as well as two branches abroad: in London and Paris.
In the original design, the niches of the entrances of this building were decorated with large sitting lions, in the open mouth of the mouths of these animals, the hand of the yard boys was placed. The sides of the balconies were decorated with sculptures of Cossacks holding huge sturgeon in their hands. With the change of power, after 1917, on the balconies of the building, instead of the Cossacks, a Soviet worker with a collective farm worker appeared. And in the room itself, workers ' deputies and executive committees were located.
Today, this historical object is a cultural monument of national significance, it houses the administration of the West Kazakhstan region.
