550 thousand sturgeon fry released into the Ural river in WKO

Sturgeon fry – Beluga, sturgeon, sterlet, Caspian thorn-in the amount of 550 thousand pieces were released into the Ural river. The fishing program is implemented entirely at the expense of private funds within the framework of compensation measures for subsurface users of Teniz Service LLP with the scientific support of the scientific and production center of fisheries LLP, Kazinform correspondent reports.

The investment project is a key one in the field of fisheries, its task is to develop domestic fish exports, revive the population of rare species and introduce lean production. Restoration of the sturgeon population in the Caspian basin is a priority task for all the Caspian States. in this connection, in 2010, a moratorium on commercial sturgeon fishing was introduced at the international level, and an intergovernmental program on stocking reservoirs was adopted.

"We have completed a large-scale project for stocking the Ural river with sturgeon fish. The project is implemented at the expense of Tengiz Service LLP in Aktau. Its cost is 1 million US dollars. Our factory is located near the village of Zachagansk. The owner of the company is the Ordabasy Group Corporation, which is based in Almaty. Released 550 thousand fry. If 20% of the fish survive to maturity, this will be a good result. The phased release was carried out over 18 days, starting from the beginning of September. The age of the fry is 6 months, they were incubated from the eggs of our females. It is impossible to restore the population of sturgeon in a natural way, now the only hope is for artificial reproduction. In natural conditions, females Mature within a few years. The main indicator when releasing fish into the water is temperature, so before releasing fish into the natural environment, we artificially lowered the water temperature in our pools. After seven years, the fish should return to spawning, because sturgeon fish have such a concept as "homing", which means that the fish will return to the river from which it sails to the sea. I am sure that in a few years we will be happy with the results, " said Sergey Ulyanov, General Director of the Ural sturgeon plant.
