We tell you how to get a passport and an identity card at the public service center as comfortably and quickly as possible.

Getting a passport

Passport and ID services are not yet available online. For the execution of these documents, you must definitely contact the PSC. At the same time, the service is provided on the principle of extraterritoriality - you can apply to any PSC, regardless of the place of residence. In PSCs, the service of issuing an identity card and a passport is provided by employees of the migration service. If you are applying for a passport for the first time, you will only need an identity card. If your passport is expiring, you can replace it 1-2 months before the expiration date. If you applied for a new passport after the expiration of the old one, there are no penalties for delay. When submitting an application, a PSC employee will take your photo for documents on the spot. The state duty for issuing a passport is 8 MCI (the MCI established on January 1, 2022 is considered) or (24,504 tenge). Standard turnaround time is 15 business days. If you wish, you can speed up the process with a surcharge. Residents of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent and Aktobe can speed up the process from three to one working day using this scheme:

1 category of urgency - up to 1 business day - 4,983 tenge;

2 category of urgency - up to 3 working days - 2 752 tenge.

For regional centers, a different scheme applies:

1 category of urgency - up to 3 business days - 4,983 tenge;

Category 2 urgency - up to 5 business days - 2 752 tenge.

And for districts and cities of regions, only the third category is available: up to 7 working days with an additional payment of 1,116 tenge.

When applying for a passport for a child, you must provide a birth certificate of the child and pay a fee. One parent must be present.

Identification

Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan receive an identity card when they reach 16 years of age. Upon reaching this age, the document must be received within a month, otherwise a fine of 7 MCI or (21,441 tenge) is provided. You will pay the same fine if you do not receive a new certificate within a month after the expiration of the old one. At the same time, if you pay the fine within a week, the amount will be 50% lower. If you have a passport, you must also take it with you when applying for a certificate. At the same time, the state duty for an identity card is only 0.2 MCI or 613 tenge. You can speed up the service in the same way as with a passport. In addition, there is a preferential category of clients who are exempted from paying state duty for issuing a certificate and passport. It:

• veterans of the Great Patriotic War and persons equated to them;

• Heroes of the Soviet Union and Socialist Labor;

• invalids of all groups, as well as one of the parents of a disabled child, a disabled child;

• elderly living in institutions for the elderly and for the disabled;

• orphans and children left without parental care living in orphanages or boarding schools;

We ask clients to update their documents in a timely manner so as not to pay fines and book their visit to the PSC in advance.
