Preparation for the spring flood: work has been intensified in the Tuscaloosa region

Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Nariman Toregaliyev appreciated the ongoing flood prevention measures in the Taskalinsky district. The Tuscaloosa region is one of the flood-prone areas. The reason is that out of 28 settlements in the district, 5 are at risk of flooding. These are the villages of Taskala, Birlik, Chizha-2, Atameken and Mereke.

Currently, protective dams and the embankment of the Derkul River adjacent to flood-prone areas and settlements have been strengthened in the Tuscaloosa region, and infrastructure work is underway in preparation for the flood period. These projects are aimed at reducing the possible consequences of floods.

"Last year we did a lot of work to prepare for the flood, starting early. As a result, 53 protective dams with a total length of 107 km were installed in the region. However, additional measures are needed to protect settlements during flooding. It is necessary to take flood control equipment, clean the channels and pipelines, and keep them under constant control," said Nariman Toregaliev, Governor of the region.

During the visit, the akim of the region checked the readiness of equipment and forces used during the flood period. Special equipment has been prepared for flood prevention in the area, 23 evacuation points and 3 reserve points have been set up for the evacuation of the population.
