Preparation for the spring flood: work has been intensified in Karatobе and Syrym districts

On February 5-6, 2025, Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Nariman Toregaliyev paid a working visit to the Karatobinsky and Syrymsky districts and inspected the implementation of flood control measures.

9 settlements located in the Karatobinsky district (Karatobe, Shoptykol, Ushagash, Korzhyn, Egindykol, Luga, Saule, Sulykol, Ushana) and in the neighboring Syrymsky district (Zhympity, Ulanty, Bullty, Kosoba, Zharakudyk, Toganas, Ankaty, Zhetykol, Kizilagash) are among the flood-prone settlements in the region..

Akim of the region got acquainted with the condition of dams in dangerous areas, checked the readiness of special equipment and evacuation points.

Nariman Toregaliev inspected the flood preparedness in the villages of Ushana, Sulykol, Ushagash in the Karatobinsky district and in the district center, noted that it is necessary to carry out high-quality work to strengthen protective dams and consolidate riverbeds.

Protective dams with a total length of 9.8 km (korzhyn, Karatobe, Ushagash, Sulykol, Ushana) have been installed in the Karatobinsky district. More than 30 pieces of equipment have been prepared in the district.

There are 19 evacuation points for 1,430 people in Karatobinsk district.

In Syrym district, the akim of the region inspected protective dams near the village of Kosoba and the village of Zhympity, and inspected the new building of the emergency department.

15 km of protective dams have been erected in Syrym district to protect against floods. Also, 83 pieces of equipment are ready to eliminate the consequences of the flood. There are 9 evacuation points in the area, designed for 430 people.

"To prevent floods, we must be as carefully prepared as possible. All work must be completed on time and efficiently. The main thing is to ensure the safety of residents. To do this, it is necessary to fully prepare the necessary equipment and tools, organize round-the-clock duty in case of changes in water levels and warming," the governor of the region said.
