Preparations for the spring flood season are in full swing in West Kazakhstan region

Preparations for the spring flood period have been worked out in the West Kazakhstan region.

Governor of the region Nariman Toregaliyev noted that the upcoming pavodkovy period is under the direct control of the head of state. In this regard, flood prevention measures are being actively implemented in the areas threatened with flooding.

54 protective dams have been built along the Ural River in the region, covering 102 km. In addition, 1817 units of equipment and more than 4 thousand people are involved.

It should be noted that preparations for the spring flood in the region began in the summer of last year. Specialists have studied dangerous areas, and on this basis a special roadmap has been developed to carry out preventive measures.

According to the forecasts of Kazhydromet specialists, this year the risk of flooding will remain.

"The amount of precipitation in January of this year was the same compared to the same period last year. As a result, in the cities of Taskala, Syrym, Burlin, Terekty, Baiterek and Uralsk, an ice cover with a thickness of 2 cm was formed on the surface of the earth. If the weather warms up sharply and there is a lot of precipitation, then in March this ice sheet can lead to flooding," said T. Shapanov, director of the WKO branch of RSE "Kazhydromet".

Governor of the region Nariman Toregaliyev instructed to monitor the condition of reservoirs and ponds, clean up channels, canals and ditches that ensure the passage of flood waters, as well as ensure the readiness of forces and Means For Flood Control and protective dams.

"We must be fully prepared for the spring period. It is important to carry out flood prevention measures efficiently and in a timely manner. Akims of cities, districts and relevant institutions should strengthen this work," governor of the region Nariman Toregaliyev said.
