On May 9, the Governor of the West Kazakhstan Region and a veteran of the Second World War laid flowers at the memorial of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland

Victory Day in the West Kazakhstan Region was celebrated without traditional celebrations.

Due to the serious epidemiological situation, it was decided to postpone the traditional celebration of May 9 to the next year.

The 76th anniversary of the Great Victory was almost completely held online.

Meanwhile, in Uralsk on the holiday of May 9, the governor of the region Gali Iskaliyev and the veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a front-line paratrooper, an anti-tank defense soldier Veniamin Skalenko performed their sacred duty and paid tribute to the memory of the fallen, laying flowers at the eternal flame on the Stele.

A holiday for WWII veterans with the performance of wartime songs still took place. Mini-concerts of military orchestras and the regional Philharmonic were held right under their balconies.

It is worth noting that more than 76 thousand of our countrymen participated in the Great Patriotic War, 36 thousand of them gave their lives for the freedom of our Motherland.

For the feat of arms, 42 West Kazakhstan citizens were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, six became full holders of the Orders of Soldier's Glory.
Today, there are only 38 veterans of the Second World War in the region and in honor of the holiday they received 1 million tenge.
