The government should pay attention to the most pressing problems of the West Kazakhstan region. This was stated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at an expanded meeting of the Government.

"The quality of local roads, almost 2/3 of them are in poor condition, this regularly causes complaints from citizens. What measures are being taken to solve this problem, it must be solved, " Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said, addressing the Governor of the West Kazakhstan Region Gali Iskaliyev.

The head of the West Kazakhstan region noted that there is a large network of local roads in the region.

"We have a very large number of rural settlements – 426, in this regard, the network of local roads is large. As you said, we had 31% of satisfactory roads at the beginning of last year. During the year, we repaired 92 km of local roads, but still the share of local roads in satisfactory condition is only 34%. We are now preparing the appropriate design and estimate documentation for the new roads and together with the relevant ministry, we will continue this work to improve the indicators," Gali Iskaliyev said.

The Head of State instructed the Government to pay attention to the pressing problems of the region.

"Yes, this is a problem that has its own prehistory. For a number of years, for various reasons, these issues have not been resolved, but now, I think, the Government should pay attention to the most pressing problems that exist in the region. The region is of strategic importance, it borders on the Russian Federation and the relevant problems should be solved, " the President stressed.

Recall that today an expanded meeting of the Government was held under the chairmanship of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
