Kazakhstan startups can get 150 million tenge

JSC " Center for Engineering and Technology Transfer "(hereinafter-qazinnovations) with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it announces the start of accepting applications for startup projects for innovation grants.

This mechanism for obtaining grant funds is a pilot, and the main difference between innovative grants in 2021 is the focus on start-up projects with innovative technologies, flexible terms for financing, simplified initial submission of documents, reduced terms for reviewing and selecting applications through an online portal.

The share of funding from the state is also increasing. Now the innovation grant from qazinnovations can cover up to 90% of the total costs of technology commercialization, as the audience of potential recipients now includes representatives of SMEs and startups, which can receive up to 150 million tenge.

The Application Review Board will consist of investors and independent experts with experience in commercialization and investment, who are primarily interested in the development of the innovation ecosystem itself.

A dozen projects in the early stages will receive 10 million tenge each, and one startup project will receive up to 140 million tenge for scaling.

To receive a grant, a startup needs to be a small business entity and have a prototype (MPV).

Applications for grants for startups will be accepted from February 1 to February 12 this year.
