Kassym-Jomart Tokayev voted in the elections to the Majilis and maslikhats

The Head of State took part in voting in the elections to the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and local maslikhats at the polling station located in the building of the Al-Farabi Palace of Schoolchildren.

Speaking at a briefing to representatives of Kazakhstan and foreign mass media, the President noted that the parliamentary elections are a very important event in the life of any country.

- These elections will give an incentive to the further development of our state. In general, the more parties enter the Parliament, the better it will be for the future of our country. Therefore, I am sure that the elections will be held well and fair. The main function of Parliament is to pass high-quality laws. Kazakhstan needs a high-quality system of legislation. Therefore, we should all take this opportunity and vote — " said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Answering the question of the journalist, with what mood he came to the vote, the Head of State said: "I am in a good mood. According to my observations, the people are actively voting. We vote for the development of Kazakhstan, for the development of our country. There should be big discussions in the Parliament about the future of the country and its fate."

Journalists asked the President what hopes he has for the vote, what practical benefits the elections will bring.

— These elections should be a step forward in the development of our democracy. Every election is a serious test of civic maturity. I very much hope that there will be different parties in our Parliament, " Kassym — Jomart Tokayev said.

Media representatives also asked the Head of State whether he believes that the election campaign was competitive.

- Civil activity is very high. There are many candidates. Equal conditions were created for all candidates. Elections are held at a high level, in accordance with the law. No violations have been recorded yet. We are watching everything closely. This election is a big test for everyone, especially for civil society. Therefore, I think that everything will go well — " the President stressed.

During the briefing, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also commented on the preparation of a package of political reforms in the country.

- Reforms are being prepared. Reforms should not stop. On January 15, I will address the new Parliament. Then there will be a meeting of the National Assembly, where there will also be a very serious discussion on reforms, " the President said.

Journalists asked about the opinion of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about future personnel changes in the Government after the elections.

– According to our legislation, the government should resign. I will soon go to the Parliament after the elections in order to consult with the leaders of the factions, before the new composition of deputies on the candidacies of both the Prime Minister and members of the Government, " the President of Kazakhstan concluded.
