During the visit of the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev to Finland, a bilateral document was signed – a Memorandum on air communication between the countries, which provides additional commercial rights for the Finnish carrier when performing flights to Kazakhstan.
Thus, the Finnish carrier is granted the right to perform 7 flights a week to Almaty and Astana, as well as the right to use any type of aircraft (without capacity restrictions).
The new agreements between the countries will contribute to the development of trade and economic cooperation, tourism and business partnership. As well as promoting and expanding the opportunities of Astana as a transit and transport hub.
It should be noted that in 2017, the Kazakh side granted the right to Finn Air to carry out air travel with a frequency of 7 flights per week (daily) on the route Helsinki-Astana. Since the summer of 2017, Finn Air has started operating direct flights to Kazakhstan on the Helsinki-Astana route with a frequency of 2 times a week.
In 2018, from July 3 to August 23, Finn Air operated 2 flights a week on the Astana – Helsinki route using the A319 type of aircraft.
