Issues of improving quality of Internet and cellular communications discussed in Atyrau

Today, Akim of the region Serik Shapkenov met with representatives of Kazakhtelecom JSC, headed by Chairman of the Board Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev. The plan for the development of telecommunication networks with telecom operators in the region was discussed on the agenda.

At the meeting, the Director of the Access Network Operation Department of Kazakhtelecom JSC of the Atyrau region, Yersaiyn Duissemaliyev, said that 134 out of 153 settlements in the region are connected to the Internet, and 19 settlements with a population of less than 50 are planned to be connected using radio bridge technology in 2024-2025.

“This year, according to the plan, work is underway to replace copper lines of subscribers with optical ones. This will allow customers to connect to the Internet at a speed of 500 Mbit/s, ID TV + digital service and IP telephony. At the same time, in the city of Atyrau the share of optical networks will increase by 60%, in the city of Kulsary - from 10 to 37%. Similar work is being carried out on copper communication lines. With funds allocated from the operating budget for 2024, as part of the capital repair plan for network and station communication devices, it is planned to transfer subscribers in the villages of Akzhar, Talkairan, Besikti to full-fledged optical networks. Thus, 5,500 subscribers in the city will be transferred to copper optics, the total investment amount is 162 million tenge,” Y. Duissemaliyev said.

In turn, Serik Shapkenov proposed developing a program between the company and the akimat in order to provide Internet to settlements where a 3G base station has not yet been connected. In addition, he instructed to cover 100% of educational and medical institutions with optics next year.

“The connection between digital products and human daily life is constantly increasing. Therefore, improving the quality of telecommunications services is one of the main issues in the industry today. At my meetings with residents of settlements, most of them complained that the Internet speed was low, and some complained that it did not exist at all. I answer that compared to the republican indicator, the Internet speed in our region is quite good. But we still want to improve its quality. There is no 3G base station in 19 settlements in the region. I understand that there are few subscribers here, but they also want to enjoy the benefits of civilization. To resolve this issue, I propose to develop a special program between the company and the akimat,” S. Shapkenov noted.

Following the meeting, Akim of the region Serik Shapkenov and Chairman of the Board of Kazakhtelecom JSC Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev signed a memorandum on improving the quality of communication and Internet access in the region.

“We discussed with the akim of the region plans to develop our network infrastructure in the region and provide the population with all modern telecommunications services, as well as the deployment of 5G. Currently, in Atyrau, the Kazakhtelecom Group of Companies has already installed 8 fifth-generation base stations, by the end of the year they intend to install 8 more, and next year we plan to increase the number of 5G base stations to 40. In addition, within the framework of the memorandum signed today, we agreed and continue to develop and modernize their networks to provide residents of the region with high-speed Internet and high-quality communications,” Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhtelecom JSC, noted.
